Okay, so I have been working on the third wing for the Minecraft Mansion, but the secret passageways aren't working with me. I'm on the verge of just making it randomly, like I make everything else. -sigh- I don't know, maybe I should try not to have so much going on secret passageway-wise. Perhaps I should add them in afterward. That could work. I will now go off and try that.

Alright, so the guest wing is pretty much done. There are a few finishing touches left to do and it'll be shiny. Next is the Gold Wing and we're tossing around a few ideas for that already.

Without further ado, here's the youtube link to my personal update on the project: Just Click Here!

Prior videos are on Cheldog's list of videos as well, so have fun viewing them all, if you want.

Okay, so I finally got Chell, Linc and I on at the same time, which meant that we finally finished the attic/ceiling for the third floor in the guest wing. I also told them about planning on them (plus Rusty) working on the windows in the Ballroom. Mostly we just played around with eggs, chickens and water. So in all, we had fun, but we didn't have a lot of motivation to actually work on it. However, all I have to do in the guest wing is furnish the third floor and we're all set. Next project is the Gold Wing (Damien's Mum's wing). I'm not exactly sure what I plan on doing, so I'll have to figure it out. There will likely be a secret passageway or two, though.

Also, I did finally finish that sketch that I put up earlier today. I'm not sure what I want to do for future sketches, so they might be a bit.

As for the actual writing: I haven't really progressed at all. I've been busy cleaning the house and such. I apologize. The cleaning should be finished soon and then I'll have much more time to focus on the writing.

So I got the walls, doors and windows in on the third floor of the guest wing with Chell's help. I started with the ceiling, but got bored and decided to leave it until we had either Emer or Rusty to help out with it. As mentioned before, the first and second floor are complete. We do want to add large windows to the ballroom, but we haven't tackled that particular project quite yet. I get the feeling I'll leave the boys to do that while I'm laying out the first floor of the Red Wing (Damien's Mum's wing). They'll have fun, I'm sure.

Otherwise--I've planned out the first chapter of The Runner and just need to work up two character sketches--one for the unnamed male alien that sort of works with Ryan "Nihil", and the unnamed female alien who is basically the main villain. I think it'll be fun, as will finishing up Killian's short story.

So, I'm having trouble sleeping, so I worked on the mansion a bit--I finished the second floor lighting and interior decorating for the bedrooms and bathrooms in the guest wing. I just need to do some finishing touches to a couple of areas for the second floor to be complete. Meanwhile, I have no idea what to do for the third floor.

I do apologize that there hasn't been much writing done lately, although I have been working (off and on) on a short story about Killian Aydan Cecil, a Fire Sprite in the series. RIFT (an MMO) and Minecrafting with Rusty and Chell have been taking up my free time lately. However, later this morning I plan to work on the Killian bit or the second chapter while Chell works on his homework. I'm feeling very muse-y and ready to get down to it, so there will likely be some progress made today.

While on that topic, another character popped into existence who might make a cameo in the series, but I'd like to get around to giving Adrya [said: a-DRY-a] her own book as well. She came into being all because of RIFT, but she doesn't really belong in that world as a character.

In other news, I might have come up with an overall series name. It's bound to change, but it's an idea to throw out there: State of Grace. Yes? No? Other thoughts?

With renewed fervor, we've been working on the mansion. We've been doing work on the front of the house and in the guest wing. Chell has been working on the driveway in the front of the main house, which means that it will look somewhat complete if viewed from the front of the buildings.

In the guest wing we've got the layout finished on the first and second floors. The lighting and windows have been completed on the first floor, while only the windows have been completed on the second. I've put in beds on the second floor and I'm currently working on the interior decorating of the first floor.

We're not done working on it yet, but we've gotten a lot done!

EDIT1 (7:44pm): the first floor has all interior decorations in place.

EDIT2 (8:04pm): driveway complete!

The Runner

So I only have a thousand or so words written for this one, but I knew I needed to solidify what the plot was going to be. Mostly, I needed to figure out the starting point, and go from there to get the middle bit figured in (that I have loosely planned). The problem I encountered was that there are two ways to go about the beginning. I started off thinking option #1 was the perfect way to go about it, but the more I think about it, I think option #2 is better--it gives me the chance to introduce the plot instead of just jumping straight into it.

So, I'm taking some time to mull it over--meanwhile, I'll be working on the Minecraft Mansion.

Well, since the patch we figured out how to get Chell and I on the server at the same time. So we have most of the first floor of the guest wing sectioned off into rooms. We just have to build the walls up and make the ceiling/second floor.

We'll be putting in windows/staircases, and filling the rooms. We also exchanged the old "beds" we had created for the beds that Notch put into the game. They don't look quite to scale, but it really doesn't matter all that much.

We also had a visitor on the server, Belghast, who checked things out.

I intend to either make a video myself or have Chell make a video update once we finish the guest wing in entirety.

Yay, squids in the pool. I'm going to keep going with this and see where it ends up. I blame the squids in the pool solely on Minecraft.

So, I'm working on the mansion in Minecraft again... so far I've added two rooms to the guest wing, and then I wanted to tackle the front--mainly, the gravel driveway. I was going to leave the statue in the middle up to the boys to build, but I found another issue first.

The front door. We centered the building around an uneven number of blocks, meaning that to have the door be in the middle, it's a single door. Usually on castles and mansions and stuff you see ornate double doors--but if I try to do that, it won't look right. So, I have a problem. I'm going to play around a bit and try to figure it out. In the end, if I don't like what I've done, I'll just leave the "doorway" open and see if the boys can figure anything out.

Another problem we had tonight: apparently I can't connect to the server when Chell hosts it. He also can't connect when I try to host it. Meaning that we can't work on the mansion at the same time. Other people could feasibly connect to the server. So this is a bit of a bummer...

All in all, I'm hoping that Notch fixes the bugs that need fixing, patch everything up, and we can be on our way. Because I'm fairly certain that once Minecraft is patched, we won't have trouble connecting anymore.

Non-Minecraft related happenings: I sent off the first chapter of the first book of the series to Rusty to read--he and I are thinking of working on a different writing project together, but he wanted to see some of my writing before we started in. The project we will be working on will be very different for me. Basically, he will know how everything it going to turn out--he'll play one character, I'll play the other. He'll feed me bits of info so I know how to stay on the right track, plot-wise, but otherwise I'll have no idea what's going on. It should be fun, regardless of whether or not it turns out to be any good.

Got to 18k yesterday.

After working 11pm-6am and then taking a nap before returning to work for 11am-2pm, I'll be working another 2,000+ words out of my system. First, time to unwind by playing some WoW.

In other news: The mansion has a roof over the guest wing and the majority of a roof over the Gold Wing. I finished the ballroom (excepting for windows and a few furnishings. Making the chandeliers was painful, but it worked out in the end.

10K soon?

I got Nano rolled last night and ended up writing another 103 words, bringing my word count to 5,180. I stopped and worked on the mansion on Minecraft, played some WoW (got acheesements), and went to work. Now I'm running on Monster and I'm waiting for Dead Like Me S2 to finish downloading as well as BAM! to open so I can go sit in their cafe' and type away at my novel. -nodnod-

Hopefully 10K today?

It sucked. I tried to write, but it wasn't really coming out. I managed to write the connecting/transition piece from phone call to the start of the funeral scene, though. So today wasn't a total loss for NaNoWriMo. 2,802 words so far!

Worked on the mansion in Minecraft today too. Finished Damien's Wing (The Blue Wing). The roof is done over the Guest Wing (The Red Wing) and started over Kaleigh's Wing (The Gold Wing). I started in on the interior of the Red Wing, beginning with the foyer and then the floor to the ballroom. I need to add the balconies and the chandeliers in the ballroom, and then figure out the layout for the rest of the first floor. Second floor will be reserved for bedrooms and bathrooms along with other rooms needed for 'comfort'. The third floor will hold the overflow of these rooms, I think.

I think I'll try to work on more of Be Happy, Idiot now, before I go to bed.
deepintrospect: (good connection)
Chapter One is officially complete for Be Happy, Idiot. I ended up adding about 1,000 words to it. Chapter Two will be started shortly, my goal being 2,500 words for today. Only about 434 words to go! I want a good start for NaNoWriMo :)

My goal is to write 2,500 - 5,000 words a day; it would make sure that I completed Be Happy, Idiot well before the deadline. I want to win this one. I need to. It's important to me. I need to prove to myself and everyone else that I can write a full novel without getting stuck.

In addition, I completed the second floor of Damien's wing in Minecraft yesterday. It needs a complete ceiling, but otherwise it's all good. Then I need to make the third floor.

So far, my Mum seems supportive and wants to read the end result, my boyfriend is interested, but mostly in me meeting my goal :)

I can't wait for the pep talk by Mercedes Lackey! She was one of the first adult authors that I began reading: the Arrow series and Gryphon series are my most favourite. I feel like I should read more of her stuff.

EDIT: up to 2,672 words!

EDIT 2: completed the ceiling of floor two in Damien's Wing!

Nanowrimo?

Thinking about joining NanoWrimo later tonight. I might.

Also, I really want to start having word count goals for each day just like Dae has done. She seems to be doing an excellent job and I think I can do the same if I really buckle down.

I wrote a good section of Chapter One for Be Happy, Idiot this evening. I planned out the first three chapters as well. The Main Character is down pat, but the others are kind of up in the air (No pun intended). I know vaguely what the other Main Characters are and who they will end up being, but it isn't set in stone yet.

I've been slowly working on getting the first Chapter of "Atlas Shrugged", And I Died written, but it's difficult seeing as I'm writing off of prompts that were handed to me off of a website.

The Dwyre Mansion is looking awesome in Minecraft right now. We've gotten the Main House finished along with all the furnishings for the two penthouses upstairs. The courtyard is being difficult: it's all finished except the trees aren't all growing very big. There's one giant one and the rest are kind of like bushes in comparison. It makes the courtyard look lopsided. I'm trying to get the trees to grow correctly. The garden off the Guest Wing and the Pool/Tennis area off of The Golden Wing are finished (with some extras thrown in by Rusty, Lincoln and Chell. The first floor of Damien's Wing is all laid out and furnished. I plan to fix the courtyard trees later and work on the layouts of the Second and Third floors in Damien's Wing along with The Golden Wing and the Guest Wings' First, Second and Third floors.

All in all, I want to finish "Atlas Shrugged", And I Died, make Be Happy, Idiot my NanoWrimo project and get a large chunk of the Mansion built and ready for me to write about. :)
