Working on Paper Fireflies today, aiming to get the first chapter finished. Almost finished now.

As a note: I've been finding that my characters don't want to let the chapters end :/ They like to drag it out. I'm quite surprised, actually, because usually it's a bugger to just get them to talk.

EDIT1 (3:46pm): finished Chapter One. Now for a break before going on.

So I finally got around to purchasing D.C. Saylor's and my domain name. We now have BirchBarkPaper[dot]com. However, we're still playing around with images and layout options, so it's definitely not up yet. We plan to have the site up and running by the first part of July.

Later today I'm going to an eye appointment, so hopefully this means I'll get new contacts in the near future and whole bunches of other stuff. (Like maybe a pair of glasses!) We'll see though.

As for writing, I'm planning on getting another 2k done today (maybe finishing up Chapter One of Paper Fireflies?).

So I got the walls, doors and windows in on the third floor of the guest wing with Chell's help. I started with the ceiling, but got bored and decided to leave it until we had either Emer or Rusty to help out with it. As mentioned before, the first and second floor are complete. We do want to add large windows to the ballroom, but we haven't tackled that particular project quite yet. I get the feeling I'll leave the boys to do that while I'm laying out the first floor of the Red Wing (Damien's Mum's wing). They'll have fun, I'm sure.

Otherwise--I've planned out the first chapter of The Runner and just need to work up two character sketches--one for the unnamed male alien that sort of works with Ryan "Nihil", and the unnamed female alien who is basically the main villain. I think it'll be fun, as will finishing up Killian's short story.

So, I'm working on the mansion in Minecraft again... so far I've added two rooms to the guest wing, and then I wanted to tackle the front--mainly, the gravel driveway. I was going to leave the statue in the middle up to the boys to build, but I found another issue first.

The front door. We centered the building around an uneven number of blocks, meaning that to have the door be in the middle, it's a single door. Usually on castles and mansions and stuff you see ornate double doors--but if I try to do that, it won't look right. So, I have a problem. I'm going to play around a bit and try to figure it out. In the end, if I don't like what I've done, I'll just leave the "doorway" open and see if the boys can figure anything out.

Another problem we had tonight: apparently I can't connect to the server when Chell hosts it. He also can't connect when I try to host it. Meaning that we can't work on the mansion at the same time. Other people could feasibly connect to the server. So this is a bit of a bummer...

All in all, I'm hoping that Notch fixes the bugs that need fixing, patch everything up, and we can be on our way. Because I'm fairly certain that once Minecraft is patched, we won't have trouble connecting anymore.

Non-Minecraft related happenings: I sent off the first chapter of the first book of the series to Rusty to read--he and I are thinking of working on a different writing project together, but he wanted to see some of my writing before we started in. The project we will be working on will be very different for me. Basically, he will know how everything it going to turn out--he'll play one character, I'll play the other. He'll feed me bits of info so I know how to stay on the right track, plot-wise, but otherwise I'll have no idea what's going on. It should be fun, regardless of whether or not it turns out to be any good.

Working on it. I finished half of the last scene. Just the Political side and the first chapter will be finished. Planned out the first three chapters, too :) This should be good.

EDIT1 (8:22am): Chapter One is finished. Working on Chapter Two now!

yay!

book one, chapter one. Having fun :)

Yup, this chapter's going to be looonnnngg. I'm okay with that, though. It sets the pace for me. In other news, Maybe by Sick Puppies is amazing. I guess I never really listened to the words until now. But I love it, love it, love it.

Will be editing as I continue. As for The Runner...

A little pathetic, but hey! Now I actually know what my plot is, so I can plan it out and then write lots more!

So, I woke up with TONS of creativity and a need to write some more of Book One. I'm hoping to finish up the first Chapter, but who knows.

I'm thinking of doing quotes before each chapter--I've been finding lots that I want to add in. Maybe? I don't know, though. The first chapter alone will probably be 10k or more. Crazy, huh?

Alright, now off to actually write.
deepintrospect: (fuckoff)
I hate it with a passion. Why can't it just be perfect on the first try? -sigh-

Well, I've read some of the book Aunt Kathy sent to me for Christmas (a book about self-publishing), and have Be Happy, Idiot open to start editing. I don't really want to edit it, though. Just because I'm lazy, I suppose. However, I do hope that I can manage to write a thousand+ words for Book One and edit the first chapter of Be Happy, Idiot.

On the upside, there are a few things I wish to change in my book, and since I know what I want to change, it should be relatively simple to do so.

Besides, I have pomegranate seeds to fuel me. :D

EDIT1 (6:19pm): finished editing and flushing out Chapter One. It wasn't too difficult. I took more time in writing the first few chapters, but I think my Mum's suggestions made it a much more pleasant read. Now onto writing some for Book One!
deepintrospect: (kirk)
Well, not really any sort of epiphany. I've hauled out the old character sketches done on Damien's family and drafted them anew. I realized I didn't really put much thought into their powers, so I worked on that and gave Damien a reason as to why he was the way he was. Damien is largely the same, but now he has a different ability to start with. It should be interesting writing an Empath, to be honest I'm not sure how much emphasis will be put on it. Probably a lot. It's odd for men, in general.

Don't worry, I won't make him too girly ;) Actually, he's not very girly at all.

On the upside, I'm approaching 1,000 words into the first chapter. Not sure how to name each chapter, or the series, or the books. I'm.... disappointed in myself. I usually have names all sorted by the time I start writing. I guess this will be a different experience. For a while, anyway.

As for the original bit about Lyki, that should stay pretty much the same. Might re-write it and make it a better scene, though. As for the character you see in that, well... it's largely the same.

EDIT: scratch that, Chapter One is named: "I Know You Know". Apt, I think, considering what's in it. (Mostly the title is pertaining to the relationship Lyki and his father have.)

Chapter One is officially complete for Be Happy, Idiot. I ended up adding about 1,000 words to it. Chapter Two will be started shortly, my goal being 2,500 words for today. Only about 434 words to go! I want a good start for NaNoWriMo :)

My goal is to write 2,500 - 5,000 words a day; it would make sure that I completed Be Happy, Idiot well before the deadline. I want to win this one. I need to. It's important to me. I need to prove to myself and everyone else that I can write a full novel without getting stuck.

In addition, I completed the second floor of Damien's wing in Minecraft yesterday. It needs a complete ceiling, but otherwise it's all good. Then I need to make the third floor.

So far, my Mum seems supportive and wants to read the end result, my boyfriend is interested, but mostly in me meeting my goal :)

I can't wait for the pep talk by Mercedes Lackey! She was one of the first adult authors that I began reading: the Arrow series and Gryphon series are my most favourite. I feel like I should read more of her stuff.

EDIT: up to 2,672 words!

EDIT 2: completed the ceiling of floor two in Damien's Wing!

Yes, yes it is a completed Chapter One for Be Happy, Idiot. I'm up to 1,250 words, and I have plenty more to write. I'm just glad I met my goal for breaking 1,000 words tonight. I plan to write more, but I need to catch up on posts at Isadora and my google docs.

I also plan to work on "Atlas Shrugged", And I Died, Chapter One tonight or tomorrow (since I have a day off).

Just so's I write this down: my inspiration and motivation is in the form of one Dae/Ayja. She is amazing and has already gotten 23K down for Nanowrimo, although she has been working on this project for quite a while. I just started last week. I do need to get a move on, though.

451 into Chapter One; I'm working on fleshing out the plot and the Main Characters.

The 2nd floor of Damien's Wing is laid out. Need to put in furnishings and windows, also: stairs to the third floor. Otherwise, going good.

Now time to sleep. Damn night shifts screwing everything up...

Well, I sent off the first five chapters of my Series to my Dad so he could see if I have any continuity issues, or have anything that's unclear. I'll be sending more along as I get more written. Without further ado, I'll put a little exerpt here for people to read.

Lately I've been reading my first two chapters aloud to my Seminar group with Debra. Also I've given copies to Mrs. Fowler.

Today I finished up going over Chapter 2 for a final copy. I'll meet with Laura during fifth period.

I've finished a draft of the first chapter, but have set it aside until I've completed a couple of other chapters. I'll go over it again once I've completed the next three chapters.

Other than that I've thought about where I want the entire series to go: whether I want it to be a romance, an adventure, or a tragedy, or any mixture inbetween. I'm still unsure, but I'll have it "on the back burner".
